Fire Marshal Hill joined the New Bern Fire-Rescue Department in January, 1997 as a Fire Specialist.  He was promoted to Fire Inspector in August, 2004 and again to Lieutenant in September, 2005. 

In August, 2011 Lieutenant Hill was appointed Fire Marshal for the City of New Bern.  As such, he is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Fire Prevention Bureau which includes fire inspections, fire investigations, and providing fire and life safety education throughout the city's jurisdiction.

Fire Marshal Hill’s certifications include: Emergency Management Coordinator Type IV, Fire Investigator, North Carolina Fire Inspector Level III, Fire Officer II, Firefighter II, Driver Operator, Medical Responder, Fire and Life Safety Educator III, Emergency Rescue Technician, Airport Firefighter, Hazardous Materials Operations Level I, North Carolina Fire Instructor Level II, and Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician.

Jeremy L. Blalock

Fire Inspector

Fire Inspector Blalock joined New Bern Fire-Rescue as a Fire Specialist in January, 2003, and was promoted to Fire Inspector in June, 2006.  Inspector Blalock's responsibilities as Fire Inspector include routine and scheduled fire inspections, conducting fire and life safety education, and assisting with fire investigations.

Fire Inspector Blalock's certifications include:  Fire Inspector Level II, North Carolina Fire Instructor Level II, Firefighter Level II, Driver Operator, Emergency Rescue Technician, Swift Water Rescue Technician, Structural Collapse, Hazardous Materials Operations, Fire and Life Safety Educator Level II, and Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. 

In addition, Inspector Blalock also serves as a member   of NC USAR Task Force 10 Team, New Bern Fire-Rescue Honor Guard, and Puppet Troupe.
