Vehicle extrication is not the practice of removing the entrapped patient from the vehicle, but rather removing the vehicle from around the entrapped patient.  This practice is performed to protect the patient from further injury.  In any case of injury there is a time frame in which a person must receive medical attention; often referred to as “the golden hour of opportunity."  We have the responsibility of offering you, the patient, all we can. This is why our personnel train for hours upon hours on the art of proficient vehicle extrication procedures.
