The Major Case Unit is a specialized unit within the New Bern Police Department that is responsible for criminal investigations that are time consuming, require specialized expertise or are of a serious nature. This unit consists of one (1) Sergeant and four (4) detectives which are cross-trained in a secondary specialty area and will be assigned to, but limited to the following types of cases:
Robbery/Homicide
Financial Crimes
Property Crimes
Sex Crimes
Bank Robbery
Intelligence Gathering
